About Magnate

Magnate is a turn based strategy game set in a fantasy world with an epic story, tons of quests, a combat and character progression systems heavily influenced by classical RPGs (Role-Playing Games) and ORPGs (Online Role-Playing Games.)

The game employs a western 2D art style for everything from character design to world map with a simplistic but stylish user interface as like most strategy games Magnate will be pretty menu heavy.

The turn based strategy side of the game describes the way the user interacts with the world map and all the elements therein. From moving Generals and their legions to upgrading and enhancing a town, all this happens in a turn based fashion. Another aspect that turn base strategy veterans will be familiar with is our Erudition Tree. The Erudition Tree is how the player's kingdom progresses and evolves. Everything from the number of Generals he can command to the buildings at his disposal all stem from this wisdom-filled plant.

The classical RPG aspects revolve around the quest system, our storytelling style and a bit of the combat system. Players will embark on chains upon chains of quests to push the game forward and Magnate is home to a very large cast which helps convey the epic story which will sweep across 7 chapters.

Our combat and progression systems are influenced by ORPGs. Combat happens much like the RPGs of old where two forces stare each other down across a field awaiting their turn to strike! These standard strikes happen in the form of auto-attacks which are based off the Generals' equipped weapon. The twist is the ORPG elements we use to inject a strategic element to spice things up. Much like an ORPG, the player has abilities and skills they can activate to do damage or incur some form of bonus. The planning and combinations of these abilities is what will make combat fun and engaging. Combat can be as small as a 1 on 1 battle between two Generals or as big as a 3 on 3 battles royal between two armies. Character progression also borrows from ORPGs with Ability Trees. Each class in Magnate has their own individual Ability Trees which the player can progress through to customize to their liking.

Though Magnate is not the first to fuse turn based strategy with RPG elements, we feel that we're on the right path to continue the growth of this unique blend. We've taken the best of the turn based strategy games, namely the creation of a mighty army and the conquering of worlds, with the engaging elements of RPGs, namely the epic story arcs, character progression, an exciting combat system and oodles of quests, loot and crafting!

The entire team is working hard towards a common goal of crafting the best possible product we can and to enrich the lives of those who honour us by buying and playing our game. We may not have the coolest toys, but we will make sure that the title we release meets ours and, most importantly, your expectations!

In summary, Magnate is a turn based strategy rooted in the traditions of classical RPGs and ORPGs. We hope that we can attract players of all camps involved and spread the love of each genre we so lovingly incorporated into our first child. The game is slated for a March final but we at Dominion Arts Studio believe in delivering the best possible gaming experience, so if that date changes, we'll have good reason and we'll be transparent about it. A digital distribution model will be used for the release of this title on the PC. We'll be sure to let everyone know where they can go to get their copy once the game is further along and deals have been finalized.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and familiarizing yourselves with Magnate. Your support is much appreciated and we hope you spread the word!
